Planet Janet is going “green”
Tuesday, December 30, 2008 by Planet Janet.
I’m a wife and a mother. I just want to do what’s right — for my family, for our planet. I’ll never profess to have all the answers; I’m exploring our world and all the possibilities, just like you are. Daily I am reminded that sometimes doing the right thing costs more and takes a tad more effort. Maybe I can’t afford to convert to solar-powered energy, but I can fill up three recycling bins per week, thank you very much! Sure, I use environmentally friendly grocery bags, but I know I can do more.
“GREEN” TIP FOR CHARLOTTE, N.C.: In Mecklenburg County, you can recycle paper, cardboard, cans, glass bottles and plastic. The County will only take plastic with a recycling number of 1 or 2. To learn more about what you can recycle and how to do it, click here. Don’t have enough room in your recycling bin for all that mess? No worries, my fellow Charlotteans. To acquire another recycling bin or two, click here.

Going “green” page

The fate of our planet Earth rests in our hands. So, what are you going to do about it?
Al Gore’s Academy Award-winning movie, “An Inconvenient Truth,” brought wide-spread attention to the environmental dangers our world faces. But when you think about all the changes you COULD make, it’s downright overwhelming, isn’t it? (Calculate your personal CO2 impact on the environment here.)
Just like you, I’m trying to figure things out as I go. So along my “green” journey, I want to share what I’ve learned along the way. Hopefully, I can be of some help to you!

Hot luxury gifts for the holidays
Sunday, December 7, 2008 by Planet Janet.
The following is an article I wrote for SouthPark Magazine about luxury gift giving for the holidays. Even though I can’t afford a Hermes Birkin purse (Retails for $39,100), it sure was fun to research how the other half shops!
